Texas takes care of Wichita Jr. Thunder early, wins 10-1

Texas jumped out to a four-point advantage by the end of the first period and beat Wichita Jr. Thunder, 10-1.

Texas got the win thanks to a great game by Sebastien Tremblay, who had two goals and one assist. Tremblay scored the first of his two goals at 5:10 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Texas. Miguel Caron assisted on the tally. Tremblay's next tally made the score 6-0 Texas with 6:38 left in the second period. Texas had taken the advantage when Wichita Jr. Thunder's Alex Smith got sent off for cross checking. Caron provided the assist.

Wichita Jr. Thunder's power play was ineffective against Texas' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Texas forced Wichita Jr. Thunder's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 51 shots and forcing 41 saves. Jake Larson made eight stops and Dakota McDonald made 33. Texas' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Wichita Jr. Thunder power plays. Texas outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, Texas averages 4.4 goals per contest. Texas could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Texas also got points from Landyn Howze, who also registered one goal and two assists, Caron, who also racked up one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Tobias Sjolund, who also had one goal and one assist, and Viktor Brask, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Texas also had goals scored by Eric Lewis, who had two and Anatoly Uspenyev and Cody Letsinger, who each put in one. In addition, Texas received assists from Collin Young, who had two, Austin Murray, who had three, and Jimmy Anderson, Dalton Foster, Frankie Trazzera, and Ian Atencio, who contributed one a piece.

Oliver Eklund made 24 saves for Texas on 25 shots. Texas registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Wichita Jr. Thunder incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
