Kotkov nets hat trick, leads Long Beach Bombers to 15-1 win over Wichita Jr. Thunder

Konstantin Kotkov netted a hat trick to lead Long Beach Bombers over Wichita Jr. Thunder, 15-1.

Kotkov notched his first tally 5:15 into the first period. He then added goals at 6:03 into the first and at 16:59 into the third.

Wichita Jr. Thunder's 15 penalties came back to haunt it, as Wichita Jr. Thunder let up five goals while on the penalty kill.

The Long Beach Bombers penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 11 minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. Long Beach Bombers had been averaging 24.0 minutes in penalties per game. Long Beach Bombers forced Wichita Jr. Thunder's goalies to work all game long, finishing with 77 shots and forcing 62 saves. Jake Larson made 34 stops and Dakota McDonald made 28. Long Beach Bombers outdid its season average for goals scored. Long Beach Bombers averages 4.9 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Long Beach Bombers additionally got points from Marcus Viitanen, who also tallied one goal and four assists, Tomas Nemeth, who also registered one goal and five assists, Mikael Lengmo, who also had one goal and six assists, Martin Vachal, who also racked up two goals and two assists, and Filip Martinec, who also registered two goals and two assists. Long Beach Bombers also had goals scored by Jesse Simone, who had two and Mikyal Anas, Nicholas Short, and Blake Sundy, who each put in one. More assists for Long Beach Bombers came via Valeriy Ledovskiy, who had three, Mason Siebe, Khalil East, and Jonas Gronlund, who contributed one a piece, and Jack Kelly and Daniel Skoglund, who each chipped in two.

Wichita Jr. Thunder racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 14 minors and one major for 43 minutes in penalty time. Wichita Jr. Thunder surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game.

Jakub Krejci rejected 22 shots on goal for Long Beach Bombers. Wichita Jr. Thunder registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
