xPhoenix Knights wins tough contest against xBoulder Bison, 5-3

The game between xPhoenix Knights and xBoulder Bison was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end xPhoenix Knights emerged with a 5-3 win.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Nick Kujawa's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker.

xPhoenix Knights was led by Kujawa, who had one goal. Kujawa scored on the power play 7:50 into the second period to make the score 4-3 xPhoenix Knights. xPhoenix Knights had taken the advantage when xBoulder Bison's Christian Manning got sent off for interference. Ryan McNeely provided the assist.

xPhoenix Knights forced xBoulder Bison goalie Colin Champine to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. xPhoenix Knights' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

xPhoenix Knights also got points from Brynton Macnab, who also racked up one goal and one assist, McNeely, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Mitch Cobby, who also registered one goal and one assist. Tanner Branch also scored for xPhoenix Knights. More assists for xPhoenix Knights came via Kelby Minshull, who had two and Max Mahood, Trent Boschman, Mattias Marten, and Robert Crisci, who each chipped in one.

xBoulder Bison was helped by Chad Lopez, who grabbed one goal. Lopez scored on the power play 2:25 into the second period to make the score 3-2 xBoulder Bison. xBoulder Bison had gotten the advantage when xPhoenix Knights' McNeely was sent off for hooking. Mark Kepple picked up the assist. Others who scored for xBoulder Bison included Charles Joly and Casey Riccatone, who scored one goal each. In addition, xBoulder Bison received assists from Bryce Berthold, who had two.

xPhoenix Knights took out Colton Pankiw after he had made eight saves and installed Luke Stripp in goal, where he finished with 15 saves and the win. xPhoenix Knights totaled 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Colin Champine made 27 saves for xBoulder Bison on 32 shots. xBoulder Bison totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
