Missoula Maulers beats Southern Oregon Spartans 4-3 after comeback scare

Southern Oregon Spartans tried its best to erase a three-goal deficit, but Missoula Maulers would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

A goal by Austin Azzinnaro put Missoula Maulers up 3-0 in the second period, but Southern Oregon Spartans pulled to within one on Nick Beaune's tally 8:47 into the third period.

Missoula Maulers was sparked by Matt Chamberlain, who registered one goal. Chamberlain scored 17:38 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Missoula Maulers. Tanner Todd picked up the assist.

Missoula Maulers stifled Southern Oregon Spartans' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Missoula Maulers forced Southern Oregon Spartans goalie Jiri Ponikelsky to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Missoula Maulers additionally got points from Erich Jaeger, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Missoula Maulers also got a goal from Joey Sundgren as well.
