Uspenyev's hat trick boosts xTexas over Wichita Jr. Thunder, 12-3

Wichita Jr. Thunder could not stop xTexas' Anatoly Uspenyev, who tallied a hat trick in a 12-3 win.

Uspenyev's first goal came 8:50 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:15 into the first and at 6:33 into the second.

xTexas' penalty kill excelled, as xTexas gave up zero goals despite allowing nine power plays.

xTexas forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and two majors for 44 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 26.0 minutes per game xTexas had been spending in the box. xTexas forced Wichita Jr. Thunder's goaltenders to work in net, launching 68 shots and forcing 56 saves. Dakota McDonald made 47 stops and Tyrel Heap made nine. xTexas stifled Wichita Jr. Thunder's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. xTexas bested its season scoring average. xTexas averages 4.1 goals per game.

xTexas additionally got points from Austin Murray, who also had one goal and three assists, Eric Lewis, who also grabbed one goal and three assists, Landyn Howze, who also finished with one goal and three assists, Miguel Caron, who also registered one goal and one assist, Sebastien Tremblay, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Seth Ensor, who also racked up one goal and one assist. xTexas also got a goal from Viktor Brask as well. More assists for xTexas came via Keith Bendall, who had two and Jeremy Quinneville, Garrett Weitzel, Jesse Foskey, and Collin Young, who contributed one a piece.

xTexas was unable to stop Wichita Jr. Thunder from sending pucks towards the net, and Wichita Jr. Thunder eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Wichita Jr. Thunder was helped by Carter Suski, who had one goal. Suski scored 7:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wichita Jr. Thunder. Colin Jones assisted on the tally. Jack McClelland also scored for Wichita Jr. Thunder. Other players who recorded assists for Wichita Jr. Thunder were Joel Gellvear, who had two and Austin Barr and Phillip Molton, who each chipped in one.

Oliver Eklund made 28 saves for xTexas on 31 shots. xTexas registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Wichita Jr. Thunder ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
