Long Beach Bombers vanquishes Lake Tahoe Blue in shootout, 4-3 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Long Beach Bombers defeated Lake Tahoe Blue in a shootout 4-3 (2-0 SO).

The two teams needed eight turns to complete the shootout. In addition to the clincher, Long Beach Bombers got a shootout goal from Johan Beatty.

Long Beach Bombers overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Long Beach Bombers fell behind 3-1 after a short handed goal by Lake Tahoe Blue's Edgars Homjakovs at 14:05 in the third period. Long Beach Bombers tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Marcus Viitanen at 18:43 in the third period.

Long Beach Bombers forced Lake Tahoe Blue goalie Troy Turpin to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots.

Long Beach Bombers was led by Filip Martinec, who racked up one goal and one assist. Martinec scored 15:04 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Lake Tahoe Blue. Tomas Nemeth provided the assist. Konstantin Kotkov also scored for Long Beach Bombers. In addition, Long Beach Bombers received assists from Blake Sundy and Mikael Lengmo, who contributed one a piece.

Long Beach Bombers was unable to stop Lake Tahoe Blue from sending pucks towards the net, and Lake Tahoe Blue eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Lake Tahoe Blue was led by Vincent DiMaggio, who registered one goal and one assist. DiMaggio scored 8:17 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Lake Tahoe Blue. David Brancik picked up the assist. Lake Tahoe Blue also got a goal from Robert Donovan as well. Other players who recorded assists for Lake Tahoe Blue were Nick Anderson and Jonathon Robinson, who each chipped in one.

Jakub Krejci made 34 saves for Long Beach Bombers on 37 shots. Long Beach Bombers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Turpin recorded 39 saves for Lake Tahoe Blue. Lake Tahoe Blue incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
