Texas rides Mulka to victory over Valencia Flyers, 4-1

Texas relied on the sparkling performance of Ryan Mulka in net to grab a 4-1 win against Valencia Flyers.

Texas pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 56 penalty minutes.

Texas was led by Jesse Foskey, who grabbed one goal. Foskey scored on the power play 4:16 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Texas. A slashing penalty on Sam Taferner had put Texas on the power play. Miguel Caron assisted on the tally.

Texas' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Texas also got points from Keith Bendall, who also had one goal and one assist, Caron, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Sebastien Tremblay, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Texas were Landyn Howze, who had three.

Valencia Flyers did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Valencia Flyers puts an average of 3.8 pucks into the net per game. Texas was unable to stop Valencia Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Valencia Flyers eventually piled up 43 shots on goal. Valencia Flyers was held back by its power play unit, which tallied one goal on nine chances. Valencia Flyers' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Valencia Flyers finished with 38 penalty minutes.

Valencia Flyers was led by Wil Barnett, who scored the team's only goal. Barnett scored 13:12 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Texas. Adam Papayoanou picked up the assist.

Mulka recorded 42 saves for Texas. Texas registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Luke Thompson took the loss and made eight saves before being replaced by Mark Becica who made seven saves.
