Fresno Monsters' Haynes deadly on offense in 6-3 win against Ogden Mustangs

Jacob Haynes had two goals to lead Fresno Monsters to a 6-3 victory over Ogden Mustangs.

Haynes' tallies came at 9:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fresno Monsters and 9:21 into the second to make the score 4-2 Fresno Monsters.

Fresno Monsters forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 14 minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. Fresno Monsters surpassed its season average of 29.0 penalty minutes per game. Fresno Monsters forced Ogden Mustangs goalie Tyler Fallica to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Fresno Monsters got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Fresno Monsters additionally got points from Gunnar Dircks, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Michael Freeman, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Fresno Monsters included Filip Winkler and Kyle Jelenski, who scored one goal each. Ogden Mustangs racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 13 minors and two majors for 36 minutes in penalty time. Ogden Mustangs had been averaging 23.0 minutes in penalties per game. Ogden Mustangs was held below its usual level of production. Ogden Mustangs puts an average of 5.8 pucks into the net per game. Ogden Mustangs had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on 10 chances.

Ogden Mustangs was led by Simon Teodorsson, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Teodorsson scored on the power play 16:40 into the first period to make the score 1-1.
