Valencia Flyers squeaks by Missoula Maulers, 3-2

Valencia Flyers and Missoula Maulers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Valencia Flyers made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Luc Whyte's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

In a losing effort, Missoula Maulers was led by Austin Azzinnaro, who had two goals. Azzinnaro scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:01 into the second period to make the score 1-1. A cross checking penalty on Chase Thesman had put Missoula Maulers on the power play. Corey Schafer provided the assist. Azzinnaro's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 15:56 left in the third period. Nikita Sheptytskyy picked up the assist.

In a losing effort, Missoula Maulers was paced by Azzinnaro, who racked up two goals.

Valencia Flyers' offense rang up 40 shots on Missoula Maulers' net.

Valencia Flyers also got points from Zach Paxman, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Austin Ehrlich also scored for Valencia Flyers. Other players who recorded assists for Valencia Flyers were Jakob Kranabetter, who had two and Sam Taferner and Jared Waldman, who each chipped in one.

Missoula Maulers kept Valencia Flyers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Luke Thompson made 29 saves on 31 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

More assists for Missoula Maulers came via Joey Sundgren, who had two.
