Oktavec leads Cheyenne Stampede over Wichita Jr. Thunder, 11-1

Cheyenne Stampede's Branko Oktavec had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing three assists in his team's 11-1 win over Wichita Jr. Thunder.

Oktavec scored at 15:36 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Cheyenne Stampede and again while 8:56 into the third to make the score 10-1 Cheyenne Stampede.

Cheyenne Stampede's penalty kill excelled, as Cheyenne Stampede gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Cheyenne Stampede forced Wichita Jr. Thunder's goaltenders to work all game long, racking up 62 shots and forcing 51 saves. Jake Larson made 22 stops and Marco Medina made 29. Cheyenne Stampede stifled Wichita Jr. Thunder's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cheyenne Stampede outdid its season average for goals scored. Cheyenne Stampede has scored at the pace of 4.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

Cheyenne Stampede additionally got points from Laim Slyne, who also had one goal and one assist, Heath Lantz, who also racked up one goal and three assists, Maans Gustavsson, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Ian Teal, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Russell Armbruster, who also had two goals and one assist. Jimmie Kotilainen also scored for Cheyenne Stampede. In addition, Cheyenne Stampede received assists from Thayne Trumbull, Tyler Elkins, Garrett Johnson, and Jacob Eisenstat, who contributed one a piece and Patrik Kramarik and Ryan Plessinger, who each chipped in two.

Wichita Jr. Thunder struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 25 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

Rasmus Hansson recorded 18 saves for Cheyenne Stampede. Cheyenne Stampede ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
