Ontario Avalanche uses big second period to beat Long Beach Bombers, 6-1

Long Beach Bombers allowed Ontario Avalanche to net three goals during the second period and fell, 6-1.

Ontario Avalanche's penalty kill excelled, as Ontario Avalanche gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Ontario Avalanche was led by Luke Rendino, who registered one goal. Rendino scored 15:32 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Ontario Avalanche. Brett Norman assisted on the tally.

Long Beach Bombers was unable to stop Ontario Avalanche from sending pucks towards the net, and Ontario Avalanche eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. The defensemen of Ontario Avalanche were also effective in Long Beach Bombers' zone, and came away with three goals. Ontario Avalanche's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Ontario Avalanche finished with 42 penalty minutes.

Ontario Avalanche also got points from Michael Thomas, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Norman, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Ontario Avalanche included Basil Reynolds, Drew Crilly, and Kevin Leuenberger, who each put in one. In addition, Ontario Avalanche received assists from Lubomir Fetkovic and Antoine Maillard, who contributed one a piece and Drew Hill and Zechariah Roberts, who each chipped in two.

Long Beach Bombers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Long Beach Bombers did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Long Beach Bombers puts an average of 4.3 pucks into the net per game. Long Beach Bombers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 40 minutes in penalties during the game.

Long Beach Bombers was led by Konstantin Kotkov, who scored the team's only goal. Kotkov scored on the power play 13:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Long Beach Bombers. Long Beach Bombers had gotten the advantage when Ontario Avalanche's Rendino was sent off for roughing. Johan Beatty provided the assist.

Chris Skeates made 24 saves for Ontario Avalanche on 25 shots. Long Beach Bombers' Talon Miller stopped 32 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Long Beach Bombers ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Justin Anderson was ejected from the game.
