Forslund lifts Lake Tahoe Blue over Valencia Flyers, 6-2

Lake Tahoe Blue relied on the scoring touch of Sebastian Forslund, who netted two goals, to beat Valencia Flyers, 6-2.

Forslund scored at 12:39 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Lake Tahoe Blue and again while short handed 18:30 into the second to make the score 4-2 Lake Tahoe Blue.

Lake Tahoe Blue pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 65 penalty minutes.

Lake Tahoe Blue's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on 13 Valencia Flyers power plays. Valencia Flyers was unable to stop Lake Tahoe Blue from sending pucks towards the net, and Lake Tahoe Blue eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Lake Tahoe Blue got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Lake Tahoe Blue also got points from Branislav Kost, who also registered one goal and one assist and Tim Ahlin, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Lake Tahoe Blue also had goals scored by Jonas Gronlund and Martin Vachal, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Lake Tahoe Blue were Nick Anderson, who had two and Edgars Homjakovs, Tom Doverhjelm, and Jack Norling, who each chipped in one.

The Valencia Flyers penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. Valencia Flyers had been averaging 15.0 minutes in penalties per game. Valencia Flyers' offense rang up 35 shots on Lake Tahoe Blue's net.

Valencia Flyers was helped by Jakob Kranabetter, who grabbed one goal. Kranabetter scored 16:30 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Lake Tahoe Blue. Austin Ehrlich also scored for Valencia Flyers.

Jakub Novotny recorded 33 saves for Lake Tahoe Blue. Lake Tahoe Blue registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Lake Tahoe Blue ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Norling was ejected from the game. Valencia Flyers' Luke Thompson stopped 28 shots out of the 34 that he faced.
