Texas holds on for 5-4 win against San Diego Gulls

San Diego Gulls tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but Texas held on for a 5-4 victory.

A goal by Nikita Salnikov put Texas up 5-2 in the third period, but San Diego Gulls pulled to within one on Drew DePalma's tally 17:27 into the third period.

Dalton Foster was all over the ice for Texas, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Foster scored short handed 4:55 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Texas. Texas was on a disadvantage when Tobias Sjolund went off the ice for elbowing. Austin Murray assisted on the tally.

Texas forced San Diego Gulls goalie Eric Eidessen to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

Texas additionally got points from Cole Rose, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Texas included Miguel Caron and Michael Brown, who each put in one. More assists for Texas came via Keith Bendall, Anatoly Uspenyev, Landyn Howze, and Jesse Foskey, who each chipped in one.

San Diego Gulls excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

San Diego Gulls also got points from Eric Baldwin, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Will Parker also scored for San Diego Gulls. Other players who recorded assists for San Diego Gulls were Kyle Rimbach, who had one and Michael Leone and Felix Kronwall, who each chipped in two.

Texas' Oliver Eklund stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Texas ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Eidessen rejected 39 shots on goal for San Diego Gulls. San Diego Gulls incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
