Cheyenne Stampede beats Boulder Bison 5-4 after comeback scare

Cheyenne Stampede survived a determined comeback attempt by Boulder Bison on the way to a 5-4 win.

Cheyenne Stampede made the score 5-3 on a goal by Heath Lantz at 19:50 in the second period, and Boulder Bison got as close as 5-4 when Kevin Behrens scored 12:30 into the third period.

Lantz had two goals and one assist to lead Cheyenne Stampede. Lantz scored the first of his two goals at 14:56 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Cheyenne Stampede. Patrik Kramarik assisted on the tally. Lantz's next tally made the score Cheyenne Stampede with 10 seconds left in the second period. Jimmie Kotilainen picked up the assist.

Cheyenne Stampede's offense rang up 34 shots on Boulder Bison's net.

Cheyenne Stampede also had goals scored by Michal Marousek, Alexander Andersson, and Thayne Trumbull, who scored one goal each. In addition, Cheyenne Stampede received assists from Branko Oktavec, Ian Teal, Russell Armbruster, and Jacob Eisenstat, who contributed one a piece.

Boulder Bison was helped by Chance Creger, who finished with one goal. Creger scored on the power play 5:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Boulder Bison. A hooking penalty on Armbruster had put Boulder Bison on the power play. Charles Joly provided the assist. Others who scored for Boulder Bison included Hunter Behrens and Chad Lopez, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Boulder Bison were Greg Sodbinow, who had two and Brendan Kelly, Sage Dugas, and Seth Ensor, who each chipped in one.

Cheyenne Stampede's Rasmus Hansson stopped 23 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Cheyenne Stampede incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Colin Champine rejected 29 shots on goal for Boulder Bison. Boulder Bison incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
