Ogden Mustangs blows out Missoula Maulers, 7-1

Ogden Mustangs had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over Missoula Maulers.

Missoula Maulers was stymied by Ogden Mustangs netminder Tyler Fallica, who stopped 35 shots during the victory. Fallica certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.48 entering the contest.

Ogden Mustangs pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 36 penalty minutes.

Missoula Maulers was unable to stop Ogden Mustangs from sending pucks towards the net, and Ogden Mustangs eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Ogden Mustangs excelled on the penalty kill, only allowing Missoula Maulers to get one power play goal on 11 chances.

Ogden Mustangs was helped by Martin Hallin, who registered one goal. Hallin scored 4:19 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Ogden Mustangs. Simon Teodorsson picked up the assist. Ogden Mustangs additionally got points from Dusty Watt, who also finished with two goals and one assist, Jon Mencer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Schuyler Seyfert, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Sean Haltam, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Sven Johnson also scored for Ogden Mustangs. Other players who recorded assists for Ogden Mustangs were Seth Giles, who had two and Cam Russell, Anthony Catalina, Tommy Pokorney, Jimmy Peplinski, and Brody Decker, who each chipped in one.

Missoula Maulers forced Ogden Mustangs goalie Fallica to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Missoula Maulers was led by Corey Schafer, who scored the team's only goal. Schafer scored on the power play 6:22 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Ogden Mustangs. Missoula Maulers had taken the advantage when Ogden Mustangs' Watt got sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Anders Nord provided the assist.

Ogden Mustangs registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Michael Mcdaniel made 30 saves for Missoula Maulers on 37 shots. Missoula Maulers incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
