Sam Mallory had a standout game with 35 saves, and Cheyenne Stampede beat Boulder Bison 4-1.

Cheyenne Stampede was sparked by Filip Oravec, who grabbed one goal. Oravec scored on the power play 4:20 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Cheyenne Stampede. A cross checking penalty on Chad Lopez had put Cheyenne Stampede on the power play. Tyler Elkins provided the assist.

Cheyenne Stampede forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up five minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. Cheyenne Stampede had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game. Cheyenne Stampede put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Boulder Bison to score on any of its four power plays. Cheyenne Stampede kept Boulder Bison's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Yinger made 38 saves on 42 shots. Cheyenne Stampede's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Cheyenne Stampede also got points from Jimmie Kotilainen, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Cheyenne Stampede also had goals scored by Ryan Plessinger and Jacob Eisenstat, who scored one goal each. In addition, Cheyenne Stampede received assists from Ian Teal, who had two and Branko Oktavec, Alexander Andersson, and Russell Armbruster, who each chipped in one.

The Boulder Bison penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. Boulder Bison surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Boulder Bison could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Boulder Bison averages 4.1 goals per game. Boulder Bison forced Cheyenne Stampede goalie Mallory to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Boulder Bison was led by Charles Joly, who scored the team's only goal. Joly scored 4:37 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cheyenne Stampede. Bjorn Bredeson picked up the assist.

Cheyenne Stampede registered two goals on six power play opportunities. For Boulder Bison, Tanner West was ejected from the game.
