Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Cheyenne Stampede defeated Southern Oregon Spartans in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO). The shootout featured eight attempts between both teams. Southern Oregon Spartans' shootout goal was scored by Jason Henry. In addition to the clincher, Cheyenne Stampede got a shootout goal from Russell Armbruster.Cheyenne Stampede overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Cheyenne Stampede fell behind 3-2 after a power play goal by Southern Oregon Spartans' Trevor Hillman at 18:46 in the second period. Cheyenne Stampede tied things up at 3-3 on a short handed goal by Filip Oravec at 8:36 in the third period. Cheyenne Stampede got the win with help from a great game by Oravec, who had one goal and two assists. The Cheyenne Stampede penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game Cheyenne Stampede had been spending in the box. Cheyenne Stampede's offense rang up 55 shots on Southern Oregon Spartans' net. Cheyenne Stampede also got points from Branko Oktavec, who also registered one goal and two assists. Armbruster also scored for Cheyenne Stampede. In addition, Cheyenne Stampede received assists from Patrik Kramarik and Alexander Andersson, who each chipped in one. Southern Oregon Spartans kept Cheyenne Stampede's goalie busy throughout the game, and Sam Mallory made 47 saves on 50 shots. Southern Oregon Spartans found itself short handed often, totaling 29 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays. Southern Oregon Spartans was led by Arturs Buss, who tallied one goal and one assist. Buss scored on the power play 6:12 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Southern Oregon Spartans. Southern Oregon Spartans had taken the advantage when Cheyenne Stampede's Michal Marousek got sent off for elbowing. Mike Kowicki provided the assist. Southern Oregon Spartans also got a goal from Tyler Spencer as well. Other players who recorded assists for Southern Oregon Spartans were Rob Donovan, who had one. John Posler made 51 saves for Southern Oregon Spartans on 54 shots. Southern Oregon Spartans registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
