Valencia Flyers downs Long Beach Bombers, 5-2

Luc Whyte racked up two points to lead Valencia Flyers to a 5-2 victory over Long Beach Bombers.

In the losing effort, Long Beach Bombers was paced by Filip Martinec, who had two goals. Martinec scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:27 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Long Beach Bombers earned a power play opportunity when Bas Assaf was put in the box for cross checking. Marcus Viitanen assisted on the tally. Martinec's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Valencia Flyers with 7:19 left in the third period. Long Beach Bombers had gotten the advantage when Valencia Flyers' Zach Paxman was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct. Konstantin Kotkov picked up the assist.

Valencia Flyers forced Long Beach Bombers goalie Talon Miller to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots. Valencia Flyers found itself short handed often, totaling 26 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays.

Valencia Flyers also got points from Austin Ehrlich, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Valencia Flyers included Niklas Giers and Jared Waldman, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Valencia Flyers were Blake Aguilar, who had two and Dillon Thomas, Adam Papayoanou, Jakob Kranabetter, and Chase Thesman, who contributed one a piece.

Long Beach Bombers did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Long Beach Bombers averages 4.1 goals per game.
