Cheyenne Stampede takes care of Arizona Redhawks early, wins 9-2

Arizona Redhawks fell behind early, and Cheyenne Stampede kept piling on the points on the way to a 9-2 victory.

Alexander Andersson had two goals and one assist to lead Cheyenne Stampede. Andersson scored the first of his two goals at 15:54 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Cheyenne Stampede. Andersson's next tally made the score 3-0 Cheyenne Stampede with 2:23 left in the first period. Laim Slyne provided the assist.

Cheyenne Stampede made Arizona Redhawks' goaltenders to work all game long, finishing with 57 shots and forcing 48 saves. David Deadman made 15 stops and Colton Pankiw made 33. Cheyenne Stampede found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Cheyenne Stampede averages 4.5 goals per game.

Cheyenne Stampede also got points from Branko Oktavec, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Heath Lantz, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Russell Armbruster, who also registered one goal and two assists. Thayne Trumbull also scored for Cheyenne Stampede. In addition, Cheyenne Stampede received assists from Patrik Kramarik, who had three, Michal Marousek and Filip Oravec, who each chipped in one, and Braden Smith and Jacob Eisenstat, who contributed two a piece.

The Arizona Redhawks penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 18.0 minutes per game Arizona Redhawks had been spending in the box. Arizona Redhawks could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Arizona Redhawks averages 4.1 goals per game.

Arizona Redhawks was helped by Mattias Marten, who had two goals. Marten scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 11:53 into the second period to make the score 6-1 Cheyenne Stampede. Arizona Redhawks had gained a power play chance when Armbruster was whistled for high sticking. Oscar Hagborg Olsson picked up the assist. Marten's next tally on the power play made the score 6-2 Cheyenne Stampede with 13:05 left in the third period. Arizona Redhawks had taken the advantage when Cheyenne Stampede's Ian Teal got sent off for cross checking. Anton Melin provided the assist. More assists for Arizona Redhawks came via Mitch Cobby, who had two.

Rasmus Hansson recorded 23 saves for Cheyenne Stampede. Cheyenne Stampede totaled 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors and two majors and went 1-for-7 on the power play. Arizona Redhawks registered two goals on five power play opportunities.
