Cheyenne Stampede tried its best to erase a four-goal deficit, but Boulder Bison would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 6-5. Boulder Bison made the score 6-2 on a goal by Daniel Orsborn at 13:02 in the second period, and Cheyenne Stampede got as close as 6-5 when Russell Armbruster scored 19:56 into the third period. Ben Schwenk had a great game for Boulder Bison, netting two goals. Schwenk scored on the power play at 24 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-2 and again while 10:36 into the second to make the score 5-2 Boulder Bison. Boulder Bison forced Cheyenne Stampede goalie Sam Mallory to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.
