Texas rides Mulka to victory over Dallas Ice Jets, 7-4

Texas relied on the sparkling performance of Ryan Mulka in net to grab a 7-4 win against Dallas Ice Jets.

Texas pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 33 penalty minutes.

Texas was led by Tobias Sjolund, who racked up one goal. Sjolund scored 15:02 into the first period to make the score 5-3 Texas. Nikita Salnikov assisted on the tally.

Texas excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. Dallas Ice Jets was unable to stop Texas from sending pucks towards the net, and Texas eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Texas found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Texas has scored at the pace of 4.1 goals per game during the current campaign.

Texas additionally got points from Salnikov, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Miguel Caron, who also registered one goal and one assist. Texas also got a goal from Drew Gannon as well. Other players who recorded assists for Texas were Dalton Foster, who had two and Jimmy Anderson, Eric Lewis, Viktor Brask, and Jesse Foskey, who contributed one a piece.

Dallas Ice Jets made Texas' netminders to work between the pipes, launching 46 shots and forcing 42 saves. Mulka made 33 stops and Oliver Eklund made nine.

Dallas Ice Jets was helped by Chris Schutz, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Schutz scored the first of his two goals at 5:20 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Johnny Henson picked up the assist. Schutz's next tally made the score 4-2 Texas with 11:36 left in the first period. Henson assisted on the tally. Dallas Ice Jets also got points from Dmitry Kuznetsov, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Scott Folden also scored for Dallas Ice Jets. In addition, Dallas Ice Jets received assists from Ondrej Valo and Yannick Aube, who each chipped in one.

Texas registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Jordan Salas made 28 saves for Dallas Ice Jets on 34 shots. Dallas Ice Jets incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
