Valencia Flyers outlasts Lake Tahoe Blue, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Valencia Flyers escaped with a 5-3 victory over Lake Tahoe Blue.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Zach Paxman secured the win for Valencia Flyers with a goal in the second period.

Adam Papayoanou was all over the ice for Valencia Flyers, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Papayoanou scored the first of his two goals at 4:32 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Valencia Flyers. Jakob Kranabetter picked up the assist. Papayoanou's next tally made the score 5-3 Valencia Flyers with 12:56 left in the third period. Dillon Thomas provided the assist.

Valencia Flyers kept Lake Tahoe Blue's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jakub Novotny made 31 saves on 36 shots.

Valencia Flyers additionally got points from Niklas Giers, who also had one goal and one assist and Jared Waldman, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Valencia Flyers received assists from Luc Whyte, who had one.

Lake Tahoe Blue was helped by Sebastian Forslund, who tallied one goal. Forslund scored on the power play 9:23 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Valencia Flyers. Lake Tahoe Blue had gotten the advantage when Valencia Flyers' Jason Hart was sent off for facemask. Novotny picked up the assist. Lake Tahoe Blue also got a goal from Martin Vachal as well. More assists for Lake Tahoe Blue came via Kyle Blondin, Jonas Gronlund, Nick Anderson, and Tim Ahlin, who contributed one a piece.

Valencia Flyers' Mark Becica stopped 18 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Valencia Flyers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Lake Tahoe Blue incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
