Seattle Totems wins tough contest against Southern Oregon Spartans, 4-2

Seattle Totems gutted out a close 4-2 win against Southern Oregon Spartans.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Braden Stratton at 14:32 of the third period.

Lucas Walsh had one goal and two assists to lead Seattle Totems. Walsh scored 14:32 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Seattle Totems. Nikolay Mamadzhanov provided the assist.

Seattle Totems pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 16 penalty minutes.

Seattle Totems excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Seattle Totems kept Southern Oregon Spartans' goalie busy throughout the game, and Jiri Ponikelsky made 35 saves on 39 shots. The defensemen of Seattle Totems were also effective in Southern Oregon Spartans' zone, and came away with two goals.

Seattle Totems also got a goal from Doug Stultz as well. Other players who recorded assists for Seattle Totems were Brett Losey and Frank Flight, who each chipped in one.

Southern Oregon Spartans forced Seattle Totems goalie Bryce Fink to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots. Southern Oregon Spartans' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Southern Oregon Spartans was helped by Donnie Nagle IV, who grabbed one goal. Nagle IV scored 5:42 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Arturs Buss assisted on the tally. Mike Kowicki also scored for Southern Oregon Spartans. In addition, Southern Oregon Spartans received assists from Austin Sartorius and Joseph Costello, who contributed one a piece.

Fink rejected 49 shots on goal for Seattle Totems. Seattle Totems registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Southern Oregon Spartans incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
