Ontario Avalanche squeaks by Wichita Jr. Thunder, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Ontario Avalanche escaped with a 5-3 victory over Wichita Jr. Thunder.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Zechariah Roberts secured the win for Ontario Avalanche with a goal in the third period.

Ontario Avalanche got the win behind a great game by Roberts, who had one goal and two assists. Roberts scored short handed 15:39 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Ontario Avalanche. Ontario Avalanche was on a disadvantage when Basil Reynolds went off the ice for elbowing. Drew Crilly picked up the assist.

Ontario Avalanche put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Wichita Jr. Thunder to score on any of its four power plays. Ontario Avalanche forced Wichita Jr. Thunder goalie Marco Medina to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots.

Ontario Avalanche also got points from Sage Cetrone, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Antoine Maillard, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Alexander Roihjert also scored for Ontario Avalanche. Other players who recorded assists for Ontario Avalanche were Ben Meadows, who had one and Joe Cangelosi, who had three.

Wichita Jr. Thunder was helped by Tyler Larson, who finished with one goal. Larson scored 16:51 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wichita Jr. Thunder. Keegan Hull provided the assist. Wichita Jr. Thunder also got a goal from Carter Suski as well. In addition, Wichita Jr. Thunder received assists from Joel Gellvear, Jordan Grywacheski, and Ian Riley, who each chipped in one.

Daniel Cepila made 25 saves for Ontario Avalanche on 28 shots. Ontario Avalanche totaled 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 1-for-2 on the power play. For Ontario Avalanche, Kevin Leuenberger was ejected from the game. Wichita Jr. Thunder's Medina stopped 37 shots out of the 41 that he faced. Wichita Jr. Thunder ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major.
