Hunter Lester netted a hat trick to lead Idaho Junior Steelheads over Cheyenne Stampede, 5-2. Lester notched his first tally 9:46 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:20 into the second and at 6:26 into the third.Idaho Junior Steelheads' penalty kill excelled, as Idaho Junior Steelheads gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. Idaho Junior Steelheads forced Cheyenne Stampede goalie Sam Mallory to work between the pipes, taking 48 shots. Idaho Junior Steelheads also got a goal from Bryan Hodges as well. Other players who recorded assists for Idaho Junior Steelheads were Dak Dice, who had three and August Von Ungern-Sternberg, Randy Patzner, Jesper Jensen, Victor Carlsson, Kyle TenEyck, and Dimitris Jones, who contributed one a piece. Cheyenne Stampede could not produce up to it normal offensive output. Cheyenne Stampede averages 4.8 goals per game. Cheyenne Stampede kept Idaho Junior Steelheads' goalie busy throughout the game, and Sean Healy made 33 saves on 35 shots. Smith scored 11:02 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Idaho Junior Steelheads. Ian Teal picked up the assist. Heath Lantz also scored for Cheyenne Stampede. In addition, Cheyenne Stampede received assists from Filip Oravec, Russell Armbruster, and Jimmie Kotilainen, who each chipped in one. Idaho Junior Steelheads incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Mallory rejected 43 shots on goal for Cheyenne Stampede.
