Huge game by Harley boosts Ancaster over Welland, 6-3

Greg Harley had two goals and one assist to lead the Ancaster Avalanche to a 6-3 victory over the Welland Jr. Canadians.

Harley's tallies came at 10:11 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Ancaster and 12:59 into the third to make the score 5-3 Ancaster.

Ancaster put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Welland to score on any of its five power plays.

Ancaster additionally got points from Elijah Williams, who also had one goal and one assist, William Kelly, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Kyle Chalmers, who also registered one goal and one assist. Michael Pollice also scored for Ancaster. In addition, Ancaster received assists from Phoenix Schueler, who had two and Max Balinson, Aleksander Panov, and Eric Mueller, who contributed one a piece.

The Jr. Canadians were helped by Braydon Stortz, who tallied one goal. Stortz scored 4:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Welland. Cody Levasseur provided the assist. Welland also got points from Jeff Whitwell, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Welland also got a goal from Max Cipriano as well. More assists for Welland came via Eric Cerino, Owen Peacock, and Nick Briggs, who each chipped in one.

Mitch Mathieu made 10 saves before being replaced by Matthew Venturelli, who took the win and made eight saves. The Avalanche incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jake Ireland made 16 saves for Welland on 21 shots. The Jr. Canadians incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
