Stouffville's Cummings deadly on offense in 6-2 win against Pickering

The Stouffville Spirit relied on the scoring touch of C Cummings, who netted two goals, to beat the Pickering Panthers, 6-2.

Cummings found the back of the net 13:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Stouffville and again while 5:05 into the second to make the score 2-0 Stouffville.

Stouffville made Pickering's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 37 shots and forcing 31 saves. P Batisti made 14 stops and E Pitcher made 17.

Stouffville additionally got points from K Piorkowski, who also tallied one goal and three assists and M Flewelling, who also grabbed two goals and two assists to lead the team in points. Stouffville also got a goal from L Folkes as well. Other players who recorded assists for Stouffville were C Maione, who had one and Bunka, who had two.

The Panthers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Stouffville power plays. Pickering's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Panthers finished with 22 penalty minutes.

Pickering was helped by M Mclean, who had one goal. Mclean scored 4:57 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Stouffville. B Hancock picked up the assist. Pickering also got points from Hancock, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Pickering came via M Condotta, A Ramkeesum, and A John, who contributed one a piece.

Brandon Klerer APJ made nine saves before being replaced by L Conway, who took the win and made nine saves. The Spirit incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Panthers registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
