Stratford rolls over Listowel, 4-1

The Stratford Cullitons had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Listowel Cyclones.

Stratford was led by goalie Michael Pesendorfer, who finished with 32 saves while allowing one goal. Pesendorfer managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.27 prior to the game.

The Cullitons' penalty kill excelled, as Stratford gave up one goal despite allowing 11 power plays.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 17:08 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Cullitons were often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and one major for 45 minutes in penalty time. Stratford had been averaging 26.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Cullitons kept Listowel's goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Dekoning made 29 saves on 33 shots.

Stratford was helped by Mitch Brooks, who finished with one goal. Brooks scored 5:26 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Stratford. Jordan Currie provided the assist. Stratford also got points from Trevor Sauder, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Stratford included Ryker Killins and Tyson Baker, who scored one goal each. More assists for Stratford came via Devon Kropf, who had two and Josh Miller and O Brien Shane, who contributed one a piece.

The Cyclones forced the Cullitons goalie Pesendorfer to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Listowel was led by Tim Nauta, who scored the team's only goal. Nauta scored on the power play 15:36 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Stratford. The Cyclones earned a power play opportunity when Baker was put in the box for slashing. Ted Nichol assisted on the tally.

Stratford registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For the Cullitons, Pat McKelvie(APJ) was ejected from the game. Listowel ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. The Cyclones ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ben Shelley was ejected from the game.
