Allen holds on for 5-4 win against St. Charles

The Allen Americans survived a determined comeback attempt by the St. Charles Chill on the way to a 5-4 win.

A goal by Jamie Schaafsma put Allen up 5-3 in the third period, but St. Charles pulled to within one on Martin Hlinka's tally 14:51 into the third period.

The 47 shots that the Americans put on net surpassed Allen's average of 23.2 shots per game this season.

Allen also got points from Greger Hanson, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Bruce Graham, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Allen included Anthony Maiani and Spencer Asuchak, who scored one goal each. More assists for Allen came via Tyler Ludwig and Bryan Pitton, who each chipped in one and Daniel Tetrault and Jonathan Lessard, who contributed two each.

The Chill kept the Americans' goalie busy throughout the game, and Pitton made 22 saves on 37 shots.

St. Charles was led by Nicklas Lindberg, who registered one goal and two assists. Lindberg scored on the power play 5:56 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Charles. The Chill had taken the advantage when Allen's Schaafsma got sent off for tripping. Zack Josepher provided the assist. St. Charles additionally got points from TJ Moor, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Michael MacIntyre also scored for St. Charles. In addition, St. Charles received assists from John Snowden, who had two and Nick Schneider and Jordan Fox, who each chipped in one.

The Americans incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Linus Lundin recorded 42 saves for St. Charles. The Chill incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
