Allen outlasts Rapid City, 4-2

The Allen Americans and Rapid City were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Allen made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Jonathan Lessard at 4:31 of the third period.

The Americans were paced by Lessard, who finished with one goal.

Allen put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Rapid City to score on any of its five power plays. The 31 shots that the Americans put on net surpassed Allen's average of 25.4 shots per game this season.

Allen additionally got points from Daniel Tetrault, who also registered one goal and one assist and Bruce Graham, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Allen also got a goal from Darryl Bootland as well. In addition, Allen received assists from Tyler Ludwig, Phil Fox, Greger Hanson, Anthony Maiani, Alex Lavoie, and Jamie Schaafsma, who contributed one each.

Rapid City was helped by Anthony Perdicaro, who had one goal. Perdicaro scored 53 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-2. Kevin Harvey picked up the assist. Jesse Schultz also scored for Rapid City. Other players who recorded assists for Rapid City were Jared Brown and Bobby Preece, who each chipped in one.

The Americans' Bryan Pitton stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Allen incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tim Boron made 27 saves for Rapid City on 31 shots. Rapid City incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
