Sebastien Thinel scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Missouri Mavericks picked up the extra point in a 5-4 (1-0 SO) win over the Brampton Beast. The two teams needed nine turns to complete the shootout.Missouri overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Mavericks trailed 2-0 after a goal by Brampton's Andrew Fournier at 7:09 in the first period. Missouri tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Scott Howes at 19:33 in the third period. The Mavericks was paced on offense by Thinel and Eric Castonguay, who combined for eight points. Thinel tallied one goal and two assists and Castonguay also notched one goal and three assists. Missouri kept the Beast's goalie busy throughout the game, and Grant Rollheiser made 26 saves on 31 shots. The Mavericks' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Missouri was helped by Thinel, who had one goal and two assists. Thinel scored 2:35 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Brampton. Castonguay picked up the assist. Missouri additionally got points from Castonguay, who also registered one goal and three assists. Missouri also got a goal from Dave Pszenyczny as well. More assists for Missouri came via Andrew Courtney, who had one and Matt Stephenson, who had two. The 32 shots that Brampton put on net surpassed the Beast's average of 25.3 shots per game this season. Frank Littlejohn also scored for Brampton. In addition, Brampton received assists from Steve Makway, Matt Caruana, Jamie VanderVeeken, and Calin Wild, who contributed one each and Tylor Michel and Thomas Stajan, who each chipped in two. Erno Suomalainen made 16 saves before being replaced by Shane Owen, who took the win and made 12 saves. The Mavericks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Brampton incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
