Brampton wins tough contest against St. Charles, 5-4

The Brampton Beast gutted out a close 5-4 win against the St. Charles Chill.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Jason Pitton's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

Brampton was sparked by Pitton, who finished with one goal. Pitton scored 14:36 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Brampton. Matt Caruana provided the assist.

The Beast stifled St. Charles' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 39 shots that Brampton put on net surpassed the Beast's average of 24.8 shots per game this season.

Brampton additionally got points from Tylor Michel, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Caruana, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Brampton also had goals scored by Josh McQuade and Brett Smith, who each put in one. More assists for Brampton came via Steve Makway, who had two and Michael MacIsaac, Steve Ward, Jamie VanderVeeken, and Calin Wild, who contributed one each.

The Chill kept Brampton's goalie busy throughout the game, and Grant Rollheiser made 37 saves on 41 shots.

St. Charles was led by Kyle OKane, who registered one goal and one assist. OKane scored 12:08 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Michael MacIntyre picked up the assist. St. Charles also got points from John Snowden, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Others who scored for St. Charles included Zack Josepher and Travis Ouellette, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for St. Charles were Nick Schneider, Sean Muncy, Nicklas Lindberg, and Martin Hlinka, who each chipped in one.

The Beast incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Linus Lundin made 34 saves for the Chill on 39 shots. St. Charles incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
