Jean-Philipp Chabot scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Denver Cutthroats held off the challenges of the Allen Americans in a tough 5-3 win. Denver took over the lead for good with a goal by Chabot at 9:35 in the first period. Matt Glasser provided the assist.Troy Schwab was all over the ice for the Cutthroats, as he had two goals in the win. Schwab found the back of the net 9:05 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Denver and again while 19:59 into the third to make the score 5-3 Denver. Denver's offense was clicking better than usual and put 40 shots on goal during the game, better than the 24.9 shots per game it averages. Denver also got a goal from TJ Fox as well. Other players who recorded assists for Denver were Garett Bembridge, who had two and Sean Zimmerman, Phil Tesoriero, Jason Cohen, Vincent Arseneau, Kyle Fletcher, Daniel Barczuk, and Aaron MacKenzie, who each chipped in one. Allen managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Americans ended up below its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. With 43 shots on target during the contest, Allen exceeded the 23.2 shots it averages per game this year. The Americans were helped by Ben Power, who grabbed one goal. Power scored 16:23 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Denver. Mike Berube picked up the assist. Allen additionally got points from Tyler Ludwig, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Brian McMillin also scored for Allen. In addition, Allen received assists from Spencer Asuchak, Jonathon Zion, and Trevor Hendrikx, who contributed one a piece. Kent Patterson rejected 40 shots on goal for the Cutthroats. Denver incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Mark Guggenberger took the loss and made six saves before being replaced by Bryan Pitton who made 29 saves.
