Quad City wins tough contest against Rapid City, 4-2

The game between the Quad City Mallards and Rapid City was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Quad City emerged with a 4-2 win.

The Mallards gained the winning advantage on a goal by Jeff Lee 11:27 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Gergo Nagy was all over the ice for Quad City, as he grabbed two goals in the win. Nagy's tallies came at 4:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Quad City and 16:44 into the first to make the score 2-1 Quad City.

Justin Fox also scored for Quad City. More assists for Quad City came via Matt Boyd, who had two and Darren McMillan, Vladimir Nikiforov, Gabriel Levesque, Mike Stinziani, and Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel, who each chipped in one.

With 35 shots on target during the contest, Rapid City exceeded the 31.6 shots it averages per game this year.

Rapid City was helped by Bobby Preece, who tallied one goal. Preece scored 5:15 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Scott Brannon assisted on the tally. Rapid City also got a goal from Jared Brown as well. In addition, Rapid City received assists from Scott Wray, Eric Giosa, and Kevin Harvey, who contributed one a piece.

Thomas Heemskerk recorded 33 saves for the Mallards. Quad City incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Rapid City's Tim Boron stopped 24 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Rapid City incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
