The Tulsa Oilers survived a determined comeback attempt by Rapid City on the way to a 5-4 win. A goal by Ben Gordon put Tulsa up 5-1 in the first period, but Rapid City pulled to within one on Konrad Reeder's tally 19:47 into the third period. Gordon had four goals and one assist to lead the Oilers. Gordon got on the scoresheet 13:51 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:00 into the first and at 17:58 into the first. Tulsa put 31 shots on net during the contest, more than the 24.1 it averages per game. Kyle Bochek also scored for Tulsa. In addition, Tulsa received assists from Scott Macaulay, who had one, Nathan Lutz, who had three, and Ryan Menei and Eric Tallent, who contributed two a piece. The Oilers were unable to stop Rapid City from sending pucks towards the net, and Rapid City eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Rapid City also had goals scored by Jared Brown and Scott Brannon, who scored one goal each. More assists for Rapid City came via Jesse Schultz, who had two and Brett Kostolansky, Justin Faryna, Eric Giosa, Kevin Harvey, and Sean Erickson, who each chipped in one. Tulsa's Shane Madolora stopped 31 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Oilers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Rapid City took out Tim Boron after he had made 26 saves and installed Keaton Hartigan in goal, where he finished with zero saves and the loss.
