Levesque nets hat trick, leads Quad City to 6-3 win over St. Charles

Gabriel Levesque lifted the Quad City Mallards to a 6-3 victory with a hat trick against the St. Charles Chill.

Levesque notched his first tally 8:23 into the first period. He then added goals at 17:09 into the first and at 17:45 into the second.

The Quad City penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and one major for 25 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 15.0 minutes per game the Mallards had been spending in the box. Quad City outdid its season average for goals scored. The Mallards have scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of Quad City were also effective in St. Charles' zone, and came away with two goals.

Quad City also got points from Michael Monfredo, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Quad City also had goals scored by Thomas Frazee and Matt Duffy, who scored one goal each. More assists for Quad City came via Jeff Lee, who had one and Nicolas Rioux, Gergo Nagy, Matt Boyd, and Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel, who contributed two a piece.

The Chill racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and one major for 23 minutes in penalty time. St. Charles had been averaging 19.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Chill's offense was clicking better than usual and put 29 shots on goal during the game, better than the 18.4 shots per game they average. St. Charles' offense was helped by the efforts of its defensemen, who managed to put 12 shots on net during the game.

The Chill were helped by Kyle OKane, who finished with one goal. OKane scored on the power play 19:42 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Quad City. A slashing penalty on Justin Fox had put St. Charles on the power play. Nicklas Lindberg provided the assist. St. Charles additionally got points from Dan Weiss, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Travis Ouellette also scored for St. Charles. In addition, St. Charles received assists from Mike Kavanagh and John Snowden, who each chipped in one.

The Mallards' Ty Rimmer stopped 26 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Quad City registered three goals on six power play opportunities. Robert Moss rejected 22 shots on goal for the Chill. St. Charles registered two goals on seven power play opportunities.
