Ramsay's goals lift Missouri to 6-3 victory over Allen

Behind a great game by Mike Ramsay, who had two goals, the Missouri Mavericks defeated the Allen Americans, 6-3.

Ramsay's tallies came at 5:34 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Allen and on the power play 31 seconds into the third to make the score 4-3 Missouri.

Missouri stifled Allen's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Mavericks found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Missouri averages 3.7 goals per game. The 35 shots that the Mavericks put on net surpassed Missouri's average of 27.0 shots per game this season.

Missouri also got points from Eric Castonguay, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Colt King, who also registered one goal and one assist. Missouri also had goals scored by Andrew Courtney and Rob Kleebaum, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Missouri were Trevor Kell, who had two, Sebastien Thinel, who had three, and Obi Aduba and Colten Hayes, who contributed one a piece.

The Americans found themselves short handed often, totaling 20 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays. Allen's offense was helped by the efforts of its defensemen, who managed to put 11 shots on net during the game.

The Americans were helped by Jonathon Zion, who finished with one goal. Zion scored 22 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Allen. Darryl Bootland provided the assist. Allen additionally got points from Bootland, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jamie Schaafsma also scored for Allen. In addition, Allen received assists from Mike Berube, Brian McMillin, Kale Kerbashian, Spencer Asuchak, and Trevor Hendrikx, who each chipped in one.

The Mavericks' Shane Owen stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Missouri ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Mark Guggenberger rejected 29 shots on goal for Allen. The Americans registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
