Owen stymies Quad City, Missouri wins 3-1

The Missouri Mavericks relied on the sparkling performance of Shane Owen in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Quad City Mallards.

Missouri was led by Evan Vossen, who registered one goal. Vossen scored 15:47 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Missouri. Tyler Currier assisted on the tally.

With 35 shots on target during the contest, the Mavericks exceeded the 27.0 shots they average per game this year.

Others who scored for Missouri included Eric Castonguay and Trevor Kell, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Missouri were Mike Ramsay and Sebastien Thinel, who each chipped in one.

Quad City's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Missouri power plays. The Mallards were held below their usual level of production. Quad City puts an average of 3.2 pucks into the net per game. By firing 34 shots on goal, the Mallards exceeded the 30.2 shots they average per game this year.

Quad City was led by Vladimir Nikiforov, who scored the team's only goal. Nikiforov scored on the power play 6:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Quad City. The Mallards had gained a power play chance when Dave Pszenyczny was whistled for tripping. Jeff Lee picked up the assist.

Shane Owen made 33 saves for Missouri on 34 shots. The Mavericks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Quad City's Ty Rimmer stopped 32 shots out of the 34 that he faced. The Mallards incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
