A hat trick by Kevin Baker was the highlight in Sundogs' 4-2 win against Rapid City. Baker's first goal came 3:52 into the second period. He then added goals at 6:49 into the second and at 16:56 into the second.The Arizona Sundogs led by five goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Arizona's David Rutherford's scored at 9:36 in the third period to put the Sundogs up 6-1. Arizona pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 26 penalty minutes. With 30 shots on target during the contest, the Sundogs exceeded the 25.2 shots they average per game this year. Arizona also got points from Rutherford, who also had one goal and one assist. Arizona also had goals scored by Bryan Cameron and Johan Ryd, who scored one goal each. In addition, Arizona received assists from Matt McCready and Jordan Clendenning, who contributed one a piece and Paul McIlveen and Justin Pender, who each chipped in two. Rapid City forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and three majors for 41 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 17.0 minutes per game Rapid City had been spending in the box. The 40 shots that Rapid City put on net surpassed Rapid City's average of 30.7 shots per game this season. Rapid City was helped by Kyle Stroh, who finished with one goal. Stroh scored on the power play 16:44 into the third period to make the score 6-2 Arizona. Rapid City earned a power play opportunity when Michael Trebish was put in the box for elbowing. Jared Brown provided the assist. Rapid City also got a goal from Justin Faryna as well. Other players who recorded assists for Rapid City were Eric Giosa, Ryan Palmer, and Kevin Harvey, who contributed one a piece. Andrew Engelage rejected 38 shots on goal for Arizona. The Sundogs registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. Tim Boron took the loss and made 22 saves before being replaced by Keaton Hartigan who made four saves. Rapid City registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Rapid City ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Justin Sawyer was ejected from the game.
