Heemskerk stymies Tulsa, Quad City wins 2-1

The Quad City Mallards relied on the sparkling performance of Thomas Heemskerk in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Tulsa Oilers.

Quad City was led by Vladimir Nikiforov, who grabbed one goal. Nikiforov scored 15:08 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Quad City. Michael Monfredo picked up the assist.

The 38 shots that the Mallards put on net surpassed Quad City's average of 30.1 shots per game this season.

Quad City also got a goal from Jeff Lee as well. In addition, Quad City received assists from Darren McMillan, who had one.

Tulsa's offense operated below it season average. The Oilers put an average of 3.3 pucks into the net per game.

Tulsa was led by Adam Pleskach, who scored the team's only goal. Pleskach scored on the power play 1:47 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Tulsa. The Oilers had gotten the advantage when the Mallards' Mike Hellyer was sent off for high sticking. Ryan Menei assisted on the tally.

Thomas Heemskerk made 27 saves for Quad City on 28 shots. The Mallards incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Brad Fogal recorded 36 saves for Tulsa. The Oilers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
