Arizona uses shootout to best Allen, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Bryan Cameron netted the deciding goal for the Arizona Sundogs in the shootout as Sundogs prevailed over the Allen Americans, 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The shootout featured 10 attempts between both teams.

Arizona overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Sundogs was down 3-2 after a goal by Allen's Garrett Klotz at 9:30 in the second period. Arizona tied things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Ian Schultz at 10:51 in the third period.

Brandon Coccimiglio was all over the ice for the Sundogs, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Coccimiglio scored the first of his two goals at 1:38 into the second period to make the score 1-1. David Rutherford picked up the assist. Coccimiglio's next tally made the score 2-1 Arizona with 14:46 left in the second period. Rutherford provided the assist.

Arizona's offense was clicking better than usual and put 32 shots on goal during the game, better than the 25.9 shots per game it averages.

More assists for Arizona came via Michael Couch and Kevin Baker, who each chipped in one.

The Americans were below their usual level of shot production, taking 22 shots compared to the 28.8 Allen averages.

The Americans were led by Jonathan Lessard, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Lessard scored on the power play 7:33 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Allen earned a power play opportunity when Sebastien Geoffrion was put in the box for holding. Tyler Ludwig picked up the assist. Alex Lavoie also scored for Allen. In addition, Allen received assists from Kale Kerbashian, Jamie Schaafsma, Darryl Bootland, and Bryan Pitton, who contributed one a piece.

Andrew Engelage recorded 19 saves for the Sundogs. Arizona incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Bryan Pitton made 28 saves for the Americans on 31 shots. Allen incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
