St. Charles falls to Denver in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Aaron MacKenzie gave the Denver Cutthroats a 4-3 (OT) victory over the St. Charles Chill when he scored 1:25 into the extra period.

Denver overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Cutthroats trailed 2-0 after a goal by St. Charles' Jordan Fox at 3:52 in the second period. Denver tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Garrett Bembridge at 12:55 in the third period.

Bembridge had two goals to lead the Cutthroats to victory.

By firing 28 shots on goal, Denver exceeded the 24.5 shots it averages per game this year.

Denver also got points from Troy Schwab, who also had one goal and two assists and MacKenzie, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Denver received assists from Steve Kaunisto, Sean Zimmerman, TJ Fox, and Daniel Barczuk, who each chipped in one.

The Chill put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Cutthroats to score on any of their five power plays. St. Charles' defensemen bolstered the Chill's offensive attack, as they bombarded Kent Patterson with nine shots.

Others who scored for St. Charles included John Snowden and Kyle OKane, who each put in one. More assists for St. Charles came via Robert Moss, who had one and Zack Josepher and Nicklas Lindberg, who each chipped in two.

Patterson rejected 18 shots on goal for Denver. The Cutthroats incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. St. Charles' Moss stopped 24 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Chill incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
