Quad City falls to Brampton in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Scotty Howes gave the Brampton Beast a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Quad City Mallards when he scored 3:13 into the extra period.

Brampton was effective with a man advantage, and put in two goals while on the power play.

Brampton additionally got points from Jason Pitton, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Matt Caruana also scored for Brampton. Other players who recorded assists for Brampton were Steve Makway, who had two, Jamie VanderVeeken, who had three, and Andrew Darrigo, Andrew Fournier, Josh McQuade, and Tyler Butler, who each chipped in one.

Quad City's defensemen bolstered the Mallards' offensive attack, as they bombarded Kristofer Westblom with 18 shots. Quad City put 41 shots on net during the contest, more than the 28.9 it averages per game.

The Mallards were helped by Matt Boyd, who registered one goal. Boyd scored 8:50 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Gergo Nagy picked up the assist. Quad City also had goals scored by Vladimir Nikiforov, Thomas Frazee, and Gabriel Levesque, who scored one goal each. More assists for Quad City came via Michael Monfredo, Darren McMillan, Mike Hellyer, Matt Duffy, and Nick Grasso, who contributed one a piece.

Westblom rejected 37 shots on goal for the Beast. Brampton incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Ty Rimmer recorded 21 saves for Quad City. The Mallards incurred five minutes in penalty time with two minors.
