Allen rides Pitton to victory over Rapid City, 2-1

Bryan Pitton had a standout game with 28 saves, and the Allen Americans beat Rapid City 2-1.

Allen was led by Daniel Tetrault, who registered one goal. Tetrault scored on the power play 11:39 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Allen. The Americans had gotten the advantage when Rapid City's Justin Sawyer was sent off for interference. Trevor Ludwig picked up the assist.

Allen's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Rapid City power plays. The defensemen of the Americans were also effective in Rapid City's zone, and came away with two goals.

Allen also got a goal from Tyler Ludwig as well. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Alex Lavoie, who had one and Jamie Schaafsma, who had two.

Rapid City did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Rapid City averages 3.7 goals per game. Penalties took their toll on Rapid City, as its penalty kill unit let in two power play goals.

Rapid City was led by Brett Kostolansky, who scored the team's only goal. Kostolansky scored 17:20 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jesse Schultz assisted on the tally.

Allen incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Rapid City's Tim Boron stopped 24 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Rapid City incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
