Tulsa squeaks by Allen, 4-2

The Tulsa Oilers and the Allen Americans were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Tulsa made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

The Oilers gained the winning advantage on a goal by Ben Gordon 17:32 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Tulsa was sparked by Gordon, who had one goal and one assist.

The Oilers stifled Allen's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Tulsa's defensemen played well offensively, producing two goals while racking up 14 shots. The 34 shots that the Oilers put on net surpassed Tulsa's average of 28.5 shots per game this season.

Tulsa additionally got points from Nathan Lutz, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Todd Robinson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Tulsa also got a goal from Drew Fisher as well. In addition, Tulsa received assists from Kyle Bochek, who had two and Ryan Menei, Jake Obermeyer, and Michel Beausoleil, who each chipped in one.

The Americans were helped by Garrett Klotz, who racked up one goal. Klotz scored 11:12 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Allen. Jamie Schaafsma picked up the assist. Phil Fox also scored for Allen. More assists for Allen came via Mike Berube and Gregor Hanson, who contributed one a piece.

Shane Madolora made 22 saves for the Oilers on 24 shots. Tulsa totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Bryan Pitton rejected 30 shots on goal for Allen. The Americans totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
