Jon Booras had two goals and one assist to lead the Wichita Thunder to a 5-1 victory over the Arizona Sundogs. Booras found the back of the net 3:17 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 14:07 into the second to make the score 3-1 Wichita.Wichita was led by goalie Taylor Nelson, who finished with 27 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Nelson will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.8. The Thunder pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 26 penalty minutes. Wichita's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Arizona power plays. The Thunder's defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 10 shots between them. Wichita additionally got points from Matt Robinson, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Andrew Martens, who also had one goal and one assist. Jared Walker also scored for Wichita. In addition, Wichita received assists from Jesse Dudas, who had two and Nick McParland, Ian Lowe, and Jason Wilson, who each chipped in one. The 28 shots that Arizona put on net surpassed the Sundogs' average of 22.9 shots per game this season. Arizona was led by Alex Velischek, who scored the team's only goal. Velischek scored 2:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Arizona. Wichita registered one goal on four power play opportunities. The Sundogs' starting goalie, Chris Rawlings, made 15 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Andrew Engelage, who stopped four shots. Arizona ended with 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors.
