St. Charles boosted by Moss' play in net, beats Denver 3-1

The St. Charles Chill relied on the sparkling performance of Robert Moss in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Denver Cutthroats.

St. Charles' penalty kill excelled, as the Chill gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

St. Charles was led by Dan Weiss, who registered one goal. Weiss scored 3:56 into the third period to make the score 2-1 St. Charles. Justin Levac provided the assist.

The Chill were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 25 penalty minutes. St. Charles relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Phil Buschbacher, Steve Makway and Weiss took 18 of the team's 35 shots. The Chill's defensemen were a huge part of the offense, scoring two goals and taking 17 shots.

St. Charles also got points from Ryan Berard, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. More assists for St. Charles came via Steve Anthony, Nicklas Lindberg, and Martin Hlinka, who each chipped in one.

Denver's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four St. Charles power plays. The Cutthroats did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Denver averages 3.2 goals per game. The Cutthroats relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Robin Soudek, Garrett Bembridge and Jean-Philipp Chabot took 24 of the team's 43 shots.

Other players who recorded assists for Denver were Troy Schwab, who had one.

Moss recorded 42 saves for St. Charles. Kieran Millan rejected 32 shots on goal for Denver. The Cutthroats ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
