The Missouri Mavericks relied on the sparkling performance of Shane Owen in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Arizona Sundogs. Arizona's power play was ineffective against Missouri's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Mavericks were led by Andrew Courtney, who had one goal. Courtney scored 8:08 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Missouri. Trevor Kell assisted on the tally. Missouri stifled the Sundogs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Missouri also got a goal from Mike Ramsay as well. Other players who recorded assists for Missouri were Dave Pszenyczny, Eric Castonguay, and Henrik Odegaard, who each chipped in one. Arizona excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. With 33 shots on target during the contest, the Sundogs exceeded the 22.0 shots they average per game this year. Arizona was led by Alex Tuckerman, who scored the team's only goal. Tuckerman scored 4:10 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Arizona. Jason Morgan picked up the assist. Owen recorded 32 saves for the Mavericks. Missouri incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Chris Rawlings made 26 saves for the Sundogs on 28 shots. Arizona incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
