Huge game by Bembridge boosts Denver over Brampton, 6-2

Garrett Bembridge was all over the ice for the Denver Cutthroats, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Denver's 6-2 win over the Brampton Beast.

Bembridge scored on the power play 11:18 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Denver. A high sticking penalty on Andrew Fournier had put the Cutthroats on the power play. Steve Kaunisto provided the assist. Bembridge dished an assist on Aaron MacKenzie's goal that made the score 1-0 Denver at 1:25 into the second period. He added another helper on Michael Schumacher's goal that made the score 4-1 Denver at 5:43 into the third period.

The Denver penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 11 minors and three majors for 47 minutes in penalty time. The Cutthroats surpassed its season average of 18.0 penalty minutes per game. Denver bested its season scoring average. The Cutthroats average 3.6 goals per game. By firing 44 shots on goal, Denver exceeded the 27.8 shots it averages per game this year.

Denver additionally got points from Schumacher, who also registered one goal and two assists. Robin Soudek also scored for Denver. Other players who recorded assists for Denver were Cam Reid, who had two and Sean Zimmerman, Jean-Philipp Chabot, and TJ Fox, who each chipped in one.

Brampton was often in penalty trouble, totaling 13 minors and three majors for 62 minutes in penalty time. The Beast had been averaging 25.0 minutes in penalties per game. Brampton's offense was clicking better than usual and put 30 shots on goal during the game, better than the 25.4 shots per game it averages.

The Beast were helped by Jason Pitton, who had one goal. Pitton scored 8:21 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Denver. Tyler Matheson picked up the assist. Brampton also got a goal from Michael MacIsaac as well. In addition, Brampton received assists from Tylor Michel, Jamie VanderVeeken, and Calin Wild, who contributed one a piece.

Kent Patterson rejected 28 shots on goal for the Cutthroats. Denver registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. Kristofer Westblom recorded 38 saves for Brampton. The Beast registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
