Rapid City completes comeback, beats Arizona, 3-2

Rapid City climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Arizona Sundogs, 3-2.

Rapid City never led in the game until netting the game winner. Rapid City was down 2-0 after a power play goal by Arizona's Damian Surma at 10:46 in the first period. Rapid City knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Ryan Palmer at 18:47 in the first period. Rapid City got the game winner at 14:33 in the second period on a goal by Palmer.

Rapid City was sparked by Konrad Reeder, who tallied one goal and one assist.

Rapid City kept the Sundogs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Andrew Engelage made 31 saves on 34 shots.

Rapid City also got a goal from Justin Faryna as well. In addition, Rapid City received assists from Jesse Schultz, who had two and Scott Wray, Bob Preece, and Kyle Stroh, who contributed one a piece.

Arizona put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Rapid City to score on any of its four power plays. The Sundogs put 29 shots on net during the contest, more than the 24.7 they average per game.

Arizona was led by Ian Schultz, who registered one goal and one assist. Schultz scored 1:59 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Arizona. Justin Pender provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Arizona were Kevin Baker and Paul McIlveen, who each chipped in one.

Tim Boron recorded 27 saves for Rapid City. Rapid City ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. The Sundogs totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play.
